The climb to timberline on the Guanella Pass (elevation 11,670′) can turn ya ‘round and take your breath away. My friend Bob and I peddled the tandem to the top the other day to take in the changing season. We were greeted by perfect temps and golden aspen with Mount Bierstadt (14,060′) looming to our left on the way up and right on the way back down.

A selfie with Bob and we are both wearing t-shirts, sunglasses, and bicycle helmets.

I’m lucky to have this ride so close to home and an adventure buddy like Bob to take this challenge on (repeatedly). It’s an absolutely gorgeous route for all the senses.

A selfie with Bob and I’m not quite sure where to face. We are both wearing t-shirts, sunglasses, and bicycle helmets.

Thanks to Bob Kauffman for the great photos!
