Happy Father’s Day to my dad who has always been there for me.

Ed Weihenmayer
When I was growing up, he worked a very busy schedule on Wall Street, leaving each morning at 5:30 AM. But he still managed to make it back for every wrestling match I ever had. And as a blind kid, his deep-Marine voice was perfect, since I could always hear his cheers booming out through the gym, over the other spectators: “go get ‘em, Erik.”
Then when he “retired,” he said he wanted to partner with me in the “blind climbing business.” A lot of people thought I was nuts, but Ed believed from day 1; he became my manager, and as Ed approaches 80 years old, we still talk almost every day. That’s been a privilege.

Thanks, Dad – I’ll keep trying to live up to the high bar you set.
