A few months ago, I was interviewed for the PBS show, To Dine For, which is now streaming online for free. The best part of the show is that they do the interview at your favorite restaurant. Maybe it’s an acquired taste after many trips to the Himalayas, but I love Nepali food, and the Sherpa House in my hometown of Golden, CO makes the best Dal Bhat (lentils and rice) and momos (Nepali dumplings) this side of Kathmandu.

I also love to tell of how my friend, Lhakpa Sherpa and his family came to the U.S. and built their way up from nothing to owning/founding the Sherpa House, a landscape business and Hike For Help, a nonprofit that brings aid to the Khumbu region (Everest region) by way of cultural exchange trips and treks. Even the beer served at the Sherpa House comes from a brewery they started back in Nepal. Hardworking and selfless, Lhakpa, and his entrepreneurial spirit thankfully brought authentic Nepali cuisine and traditional Sherpa culture to our community, and he and his family are an amazing example of the American Dream.
