A Weihenmayer Family Tradition

When I was a kid, I was lucky to go to Camp Tecumseh, an overnight sports and adventure camp for boys located on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire.

My dad was a coach there, and I had such a wonderful experience as a camper that I returned to coach wrestling as a young adult too. Years later, I even sent my own son, Arjun, to enjoy this special place along with his cousins.

Tecumseh is part of tradition for the Weihenmayer men – and to this day, we appreciate how the camp continues to strive to unite campers and foster an environment that promotes inclusion and emphasizes empathy, respect, and kindness.

This is a message that resonates deeply with me and my family, and that’s why it was an honor to be invited back as an alum this summer to speak to the 2022 campers and counselors about adversity and the ways we can all live a No Barriers Life, as well as how we can make our community and the world a better place.

Whether it was while speaking to the packed assembly hall, or swimming, climbing, or water-skiing with the kids as part of my visit, the energy was exactly as awesome as I remembered it.

Thanks again for having me, Camp Tecumseh. Keep Reaching!
