In 2007, I wrote my second book, The Adversity Advantage, with the help of my friend and resiliency expert Dr. Paul Stoltz. This year, Paul joined us on the No Barriers Podcast, as our first Alchemy Series guest, where he pretty quickly asked us something along the lines of, “Hey, what will your COVID story be? Are you just going to squeak through and survive it, or are you actually going to make it a deep, rich story?” I thought about how on tough climbs and long river trips, I hate when I just barely make it. I want to flourish and grow!
So, as part of my COVID story, I challenged myself to start playing my guitar again. After a lot of practice, I eventually put myself out there to play a little concert with some friends. Sharing music is one way I am working on reaching out to the world in new ways. I hope you enjoy my little campfire rendition of “For the Summer” by Ray LaMontagne.

With snow (recently) on the ground in Golden and colder months knowingly ahead, playing this song was an opportunity for me to celebrate the summer I’ve had and a gentle reminder to start contemplating the larger goals and motivations that might be dancing out there on my horizon.
What’s your COVID story been? What will it be?
