Cannon School takes No Barriers Pledge

I had a great time today chatting with middle school students at the Cannon School in Concord, NC. I met one of their teachers, Leigh Northrup, when I was kayak training at the US National Whitewater Center. Leigh and the other teachers have been working with their students on the Touch The Top Curriculum that I developed to help my story come to life in the classroom. They watched clips from some of my documentary films like Farther Than The Eye Can See, read excerpts from my memoir, Touch The Top of the World, and did some fun activities like make a PB&J blindfolded. I’m sure that got messy! As a capstone to the project, I was able to Skype into their school auditorium for a Q&A.

The students had some great questions, and I was psyched to share a little bit about my story personally with them. I think the most exciting thing is that all 270 students took the No Barriers Pledge!
