Morocco "Expedition Possible" Adventure

Join my No Limits team and the Modern Gypsies for an adventure of a lifetime! Anyone who watched the ABC television show "Expedition Impossible" will know that my friends (Jeff Evans and Ike Isaacson) were the runner-ups to those pesky Gypsies (Taylor Filasky, Eric Bach, and John Post) in month-long adventure race across scenic Morocco. And you also know that, despite the competition, we all became lifelong friends.

Launching on the Grand!

In the next hour or so, I'm launching for my trial run down the Grand Canyon! We have a great team that will assist me and it should be an incredible two-week adventure. The goal of this trip is to test out systems and try running some of the rapids so I know what I'll be in for when we make the complete descent next year. I will try to send some posts from the river but satellite connections aren't the greatest at the bottom of the Big Ditch. I've also pre-scheduled some other blog posts while I'm away, including a more detailed report on last month's kayaking trip in Mexico. Stay tuned!

3rd Annual What's Your Everest Climb - June 1st

Join me and the No Barriers team on June 1st for an ascent of Grays Peak (14,270 feet). And if you're still feeling frisky you can bag nearby Torreys Peak (14,267 feet) too. These are the highest peaks along the entire Continental Divide in the United States and they afford exceptional views of the Front Range of Colorado.

Summit Scholarships Available

Money should not be a barrier to attending the No Barriers Summit. Therefore we have set up a scholarship fund to help those in need. No Barriers will give first priority to people with disabilities and current or former members of the US military. Depending upon need, you may receive help with the cost of registration as well as travel and lodging expenses. To apply for a scholarship, please visit the No Barriers web site. I look forward to meeting you in Telluride!

Blind Wrestling

Since I was a wrestler in high school, this story about Anthony Ferraro was especially interesting. Though we've never met, Anthony certainly exemplifies the No Barriers mindset. If anybody knows how to reach him, it would be awesome if Anthony could attend the No Barriers Summit this summer in Telluride!

What is Soldiers To Summits?

Check out this terrific short video that explains what our Soldiers To Summits program is all about! It was produced by my good friend Didrik Johnck.

Global Explorers to Machu Picchu

Global Explorers is one of the great programs run by No Barriers. This gives high school students the opportunity to not only travel to incredible destinations but also foster the principles of leadership and giving back to the community.

A Soldier's Poem

I was really moved by this poem from Soldiers To Summits participant, Matt Burgess, which was inspired by our recent program. It speaks to me because it reflects the struggle and pain it takes to break through barriers, gain traction, and ultimately transform our lives. All that chaos, turmoil, and conflicting emotion represents the reality of change and growth, and that it’s the commitment to a lifetime of hard work, not just one program being a cure-all.

Climb Coto with El Jeffe!

My longtime climbing partner, Jeff Evans, is putting together another expedition to Cotopaxi next December. He's planning on taking a team of experienced climbers as well as one of the soldiers who didn't quite make it to the top with our S2S program. If you are comfortable using an ice axe and crampons and want the trip of a lifetime, this is a great opportunity!

Everglades Family Expedition

Last week we took the kids out of school for a fun family adventure. I was in Florida speaking to two organizations and have had a life-long goal to explore the Everglades, and not just by loud airboats that drown out the sounds of wildlife, the typical mode of travel for tourists, but by kayaks where you’re moving quietly only inches above the surface of the water.
