The Heroic Journey

After I posted about our Soldiers To Summits training that we held last month, several people asked me about our selection of the Heroic Journey metaphor as the overarching theme of the program. A lot of the credit for that belongs to Peter Bailey, who is Senior Vice President at the Prouty Project.

Soldiers To Summits Kicks Off

Our second Soldiers To Summits program has been gearing up for months. Behind the scenes, we have been working hard on fund raising, developing the curriculum, and selecting the new team. Countless hours have gone into preparing for this new S2S program but until the entire team comes together, it almost doesn’t feel real.

S2S Director Charley Mace on Everest

Charley Mace, our Director for Soldiers To Summits, and a longtime climbing partner of mine, is bound for another ascent of Everest. He was with my team on the Hillary-Norgay route a decade ago and now he's going back to climb the West Ridge. High Ground Wins!

The premier of High Ground on Saturday was simply awesome! Michael Brown did a fantastic job of documenting our Lobuche expedition and explaining the struggles that many returning veterans face. High Ground won both the "Call To Action" and the "People's Choice" awards for the entire Boulder International Film Festival!

By simply standing at the cash registers and explaining what S2S is about, we raised over $2,000 for the upcoming program!

This seemed an appropriate time to check in with some of the team from last year's Soldiers To The Summit (S2S) expedition. Over the next few weeks, you will hear from some of the injured soldiers, and the climbing team who supported them, on what the program means to them.

Veterans Day and S2S

The following is a wonderful sentiment and news update written by my good friend and Team No Limits partner, Jeff Evans. Since my father is a former Marine combat pilot, this article echoes many of my own feelings. Erik
