My Secret Is Out - Expedition Impossible!

As you may know, I dropped out of sight for about four weeks this past March and April. Now I can tell you that I was in Morocco participating in a new reality TV show called Expedition Impossible! This is the latest creation of Mark Burnett, the producer of Eco-Challenge adventure races and the Survivor and The Apprentice reality shows.

Powerful interview of a friend

My good friend Douglas Sidialo was recently interviewed by Lisa Mullins for PRI's The World radio broadcast. It's a very powerful piece and well worth the listen. In 1998, Douglas was blinded by flying shards of glass during the embassy bombing in Kenya that was ordered by Osama Bin Laden. While that terrible tragedy changed his life, Douglas used it as fuel for greatness.

Adventure TEAM Challenge on Twin Cities TV

The Adventure TEAM Challenge made the local news in Minneapolis yesterday morning. My friends at the Prouty Project have really stepped up to raise awareness for the world's most rewarding adventure race! The Prouty Project is an amazing company that helps other organizations with strategic planning, organizational development, and board development. They are sponsoring FIVE teams to attend the ATC this year!

More Dog News

You might recall that around this time last year, I wrote about a blind guy named Scott Cunningham and his guide dog Travis who hiked 95-miles of rugged terrain in the Scottish Highlands to raise money for charity. So far, the duo has raised about $200,000 for training guide dogs.

Fidelco article

Hey dog lovers, here's a link to a short article about me and Uri. It's on the web site of Fidelco, the company that provided all four of my guide dogs. Lots of German shepherd photos too! If you happen to like dogs, and wine, and supporting good charities, then you're in luck! You can enjoy all three by purchasing some very tasty Fidelco wines.

Training Uri, the education of a guide dog

People are always curious about my guide dogs. I sometimes think these noble animals get more attention than me at events. Among the most frequent questions that I am asked is, "how do they train a guide dog?" Since I just got Uri a few months ago, we decided to show you!

Blind Seeing Blind

Here are a few interesting stories that I've run across lately: a blind solo cyclist, a blind waterskier setting a sighted world record, and a blind runner training solo for an ultramarathon.

Hard to believe but it's been 10 years since I climbed Everest! A lot has happened since then and my team and I are still working together to give back after the mountains have given us so much. Our latest effort was the Soldiers To The Summit expedition and now we are working on making the film happen.
