A Climber's View

Brad Bull was with me on our Everest climb almost a decade ago and we've stayed friends ever since. On that expedition, he reached the summit with his dad, Sherman Bull, and they became the first father-son team to climb Everest (Sherman was also the oldest summiter, though that record has since been surpassed). When I brought up the subject of the Soldiers to the Summit Expedition, both Brad and Sherman leapt at the opportunity!

Here is Brad's account of guiding soldier Steve Baskis to the summit of Lobuche. He captures many of the feelings that all of our climbing team have expressed. Though all of us have been on many expeditions around the world, we all agree this one has been the most meaningful. Climbing to help others has greater rewards than merely ticking another peak off the list.
